Naughty or Nice?

I’m using the fabulous licensed work of PinUpToons which can be purchased at CILM  

  

Supplies needed:

 

 PSP

(I wrote this in X but any version will work)

Animation Shop

Plugins:  Alien Skin Xenofex 2 > Constellation (download a DEMO version HERE)

Eye Candy Gradient Glow

2 Tubes from same artist

Font of choice

Template04 by me HERE

Let’s get started!

 

Put your masks in your Mask folder

 

Open your template in PSP

Shift + D to duplicate and close the original

  

Click on lg rounded rectangle layer

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat

Selections > Modify > Expand by 1

Open LNC_paper8_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Delete lg rounded rectangle layer

Add drop shadow

0, 0, 75, 7

 

Click on wavy line 1 layer

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat

Open LNC_paper12_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Resize by 75% and position within the marching ants

Selections > Invert

Hit Delete and deselect

Delete wavy line 1 layer

  

Repeat for wavy line 2 layer

Delete wavy line 2 layer

Merge the two wavy lines together

 

Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Use the following settings:

Width = 4

Opacity = 40

Color = white

(do not check any of the boxes)

Hit OK

Adjust > Sharpen

Add same drop shadow

Merge down

 

Click on large grey circle layer

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat

Open LNC_paper19_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Resize by 75% and position inside marching ants

Selections > Invert

Hit Delete

Delete large grey circle layer

Merge down

 

Click on scalloped edge layer

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat

Selections > Modify > Expand by 1

Open LNC_paper5_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Resize by 75% and position inside marching ants

Selections > Invert

Hit Delete

Add same drop shadow twice

Delete scalloped edge layer

 

Click on medium white circle layer

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat

Selections > Modify > Expand by 1

Open LNC_paper10_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Selections > Invert

Hit Delete

Add same drop shadow twice

Delete medium white circle layer

Delete your 3 bg layers 

 

Click on circle frame 1 layer

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat

Selections > Modify > Expand by 1

Open LNC_paper16_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Selections > Invert

Hit Delete

Delete circle frame 1 layer

 

Repeat steps for circle frame 2 and 3

 

Merge the three frames together

Rename Circle Frames

 

Add a new raster layer and drag below your circle frames layer

With your magic wand, select inside the 3 frames

Selections > Modify > Expand by 1

Click on your new raster layer

Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout with the following settings:

0, 0, 100, 10, color = white

Hit Ok

 

Click on your circle frames layer and merge down

 

Using your magic wand, click inside each of the circles

Selections > Modify > Expand by 10

Open LNC_paper 9_JD

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Selections > Invert

Hit delete

Rename background

 

Click on your background layer

Open LNC_bottlecap1_JD and LNC_bottlecap2_JD

Copy and paste the “Naughty” cap onto

 your canvas

Center behind the top circle

Use your raster deform tool to stretch the bottle cap a bit

so none of the silver part is showing

Sharpen

 

Click on your circle frames layer

Using your magic wand, click inside the top frame with the bottle cap

Selections > Modify > Expand by 3

Selections > Invert

Click on your bottle cap layer

Hit delete

Rename Naughty

Duplicate and position the behind the bottom frame

 

Hide your Naughty layers and repeat the same steps above for the “Nice” bottle cap

 

Click on the background of your middle cap

Activate your text tool and type a question mark

Convert to raster and rename ? mark

 

Unhide all of your bottle cap layers and arrange on your layers palette like below

 

 

 

Click on your circle frame layer and add same drop shadow

 

Image > Canvas Size > 750 X 750 center placement

Click on your white background layer and flood fill with white

 

Click on your top layer of your layers palette

 

Open LNC_frame1_JD

Copy and paste as new layer

Resize by 50% and position to the right of your large rounded rectangle so the flowers overlap the edge

Erase the string covering the rectangle

Add same drop shadow and sharpen

 

Copy and paste your 1 or 2 main tubes and position to your liking

Add same drop shadow twice

 

Open your LNC_wordart_JD

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 70% and free rotate 25 degrees right

Position top right of your canvas

Drag word art layer beneath your bottle caps layers

Add following drop shadow

0, 0, 75, 2

(I also added a gradient glow)

 

Click on your white background layer

Open your LNC_barbwire_JD

Image > Rotate right

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Free rotate 25 degrees left

Duplicate layer and free rotate 50 degrees right

Position a little higher then the first wire

Merge together and sharpen

Erase any wire you don’t want showing below your tag

Add drop shadow

0, 0, 75, 7

 

 

Click on your white background layer

Open your LNC_doodle4_JD

Image > Mirror > Flip

Copy and paste onto your canvas and position so you see the doodle

at the bottom left of your canvas

(see mine for placement)

Duplicate layer

Image > Flip > Mirror

 

Click on your word art layer

Open LNC_branch_JD

Image > Rotate Left

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Image > Flip and position at the bottom of your scalloped circle frame

Free Rotate 15 degrees right and sharpen

Duplicate layer and mirror

Position on the other side to your liking

Merge branches together

Erase any of the branches you don’t want showing

Add same drop shadow

 

Open your LNC_doodle1_JD

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 40% and position top left

Add following drop shadow

0, 0, 75, 2

(I also added a gradient glow)

 

Open LNC_tag1_JD

Copy and paste onto your canvas and position on the left side of your scalloped frame (below your branch layer)

Free rotate 15 degrees right and sharpen

Add drop shadow

0, 0, 75, 7

 

Open LNC_button3_JD

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 40% and position over your tag string

Add same drop shadow and sharpen

 

 Open LNC_paper16_JD

Layers > Load/Saved Mask from Disk

Find gemsmask37 from drop down

Fit to Layer, Show all mask, Source Luminance checked

Hit OK

Merge Group

Edit > Copy

 

Click on your white background layer

Paste as New Layer

Resize 120%

 

Effects > Plugins > Alien Skin Xenofex 2 > Constellation with the following settings:

 

 

 

Add your copyright information and name to your tag

 

Starting with the top layer on your layers palette, merge down until you get to the first Naughty bottle cap layer (do not merge with the bottle cap)

 

Click on the first layer below your Copy of Naughty bottle cap

 

Merge down until you get to your white background (do not merge with white background)

 

Image > Resize > 66% (all layers checked)

 

Hide your white background

 

Let's Animate!

 

Hide your Nice and Copy of Naughty bottle caps like below:

 

 

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Open Animation Shop and Ctrl V to paste as new animation

Back in PSP 

 

Click on your Naughty layer

Change opacity to 75%

Click on Copy of Nice layer

Change opacity to 75%

 

Edit > Copy Merged

Back in AS

 

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

 

 

Back in PSP

Click on Naughty layer

Change opacity to 50%

Click on Copy of Nice layer

Change opacity to 50%

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

 

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

Back in PSP

Click on Naughty layer

Change opacity to 25%

Unhide your Nice layer

Change opacity to 25%

Click on Copy of Nice layer

Change opacity to 25%

Unhide your Copy of Naughty layer

Change opacity to 25%

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

 

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

Back in PSP

Hide your Naughty layer

Click on your Nice layer

Change opacity to 50%

Hide your Copy of Nice layer

Click on your Copy of Naughty layer

Change opacity to 50%

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

 

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

Back in PSP

Click on your Nice layer

Change opacity to 75%

Click on your Copy of Naughty layer

Change opacity to 75%

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

 

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

Back in PSP

Click on your Nice layer

Change opacity to 100%

Click on your Copy of Naughty layer

Change opacity to 100%

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

 Edit > Paste After Current Frame

 

Ctrl + A to select all frames

Animation > Animation Properties

Click Opaque and change the color to white

Resize to your liking if necessary

 

Animation > Frame Properties > 20

 

Resize to your liking

 

View > Animation and Save As
