Supplies needed:
PSP
(I wrote this in X but any version will work)
Animation Shop
Plugins: No outside plugins needed for this tutorial
5 tubes from the same artist
Font: Army (get it HERE)
Mask: WSL_Mask162 by Chelle
(included in supplies)

Let’s get started!
Put your mask in your Mask folder
Unzip and open your Army font
Open a new canvas, 800 X 800
Flood fill with white
Open up one of the black papers in your kit
Layers > Load/Save Mask from Disk
Find WSL_Mask162 from the drop down
Fit to layer, Hide all mask, Source Luminance checked
Hit OK
Merge Group
Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas
Resize by 130%
Rename Mask 1
Close out your black paper
Open B_paper21_JD
Layers > Load/Save Mask from Disk
Find WSL_Mask162 from the drop down
Fit to layer, Hide all mask, Source Luminance checked
Hit OK
Merge Group
Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas
Resize by 125%
Rename Mask 2
Close out your paper and merge your masks together
Open B_frame1_JD
Copy and paste onto your canvas
Using your magic wand (Mode = Add(Shift), click inside
each of the frames
Selections > Modify > Expand by 2
Open B_paper21JD again
Edit > Copy
Click on your Mask layer
Edit > Paste as new layer
Selections > Invert
Hit Delete
Copy and paste your main tube onto your canvas
Add a drop shadow
2, 2, 75, 4
Using your magic wand, click inside the top right frame
Selections > Modify > Expand by 2
Copy and paste one of your other tubes
Resize to fit if needed
Selections > Invert
Hit Delete
Shift + D to deselect
Repeat the above with your other 3 tubes
(one for each of the remaining frames)
Merge your 4 tubes together
Add a drop shadow to your tubes
0, 0, 75, 7.5
Add a drop shadow to your frame
1, 1, 75, 4
Repeat with V/H = -1
Merge your frame with your 4 tubes
Copy and paste B_flag_JD onto your canvas
Resize by 60% and position at top of your frames
(see mine for placement)
Drag below your tube layer
Add a drop shadow
2, 2, 75, 4
Merge down
Open B_beadswirl_JD
Copy and paste onto your canvas
Position at the bottom left of your frame
Drag layer below frame layer
Duplicate layer
Image > Flip
Click on the duplicated layer with your mover tool
Using your up arrow key, move the beads
upwards until the 2 red beads overlap
Merge bead layers together and re-center with red frame
(see mine for placement)
Add a drop shadow
-2, -2, 75, 4
Duplicate beads layer
Image > Mirror
Re-center with blue frame
(see mine for placement)
Merge both bead layers together
Hide your white background and merge visible layers
Resize canvas so it’s no more then 500 pixels on the longest side (all layers checked)
Sharpen if needed
OPTIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREATING PATTERNED TEXT:
Open a new canvas 90 X 90
Click on your Selections Tool
Click on the Custom Selection button

Enter the following values in the pop up:
Top = 0
Left = 0
Right = 30
Bottom = 90
Click OK
Click on your foreground color in your materials palette
Change color to #b20d0d
Flood fill the selection
Shift + D to deselect
Click on your Selections Tool again
Click on the Custom Selection button
Enter the following values:
Top = 0
Left = 30
Right = 60
Bottom = 90
Click OK
Click on your foreground color in your materials palette
Change color to #FFFFFF
Flood fill the selection
Shift + D to deselect
Click on your Selections Tool one last time
Click on the Custom Selection button
Enter the following values:
Top = 0
Left = 60
Right = 90
Bottom = 90
Click OK
Click on your foreground color in your materials palette
Change color to #0c60b9
Flood fill the selection
Shift + D to deselect
Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling with the following settings:

Click OK
Click on your background color on your materials palette
Click on the Patterns tab and find the red, white and blue stripe pattern you just made
Angle = 90
Scale = 50
Set your foreground to Black
Activate your text tool
Find Army in your Font drop down
Size = 36
Stroke = 2
Create as Vector
Type out your text vertically
(hitting the Enter key after each letter)
Hit Apply
(resize your text if necessary)
Convert to Raster
Type your text for the right side of your canvas
the same way you did for the left
Convert to Raster
Merge the two text layers together
Activate your text tool again and type out your bottom text
(I stretched mine out so it would look like she was standing on it)
Convert to Raster
Activate your merged text layer
Selections > Select All > Float
Selections > Modify > Contract by 2
Adjust > Add/Remove Noise
Add Noise
Uniform checked
Noise = 75
Monochrome checked
Hit OK
Shift + D to deselect
Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
Add a drop shadow
0, 0, 75, 5
Repeat Noise for the bottom text
Add any other text you’d like and add the same drop shadow
Save as .PNG or .JPG!
