Snow Fall

I’m using the fabulous licensed work of PinUpToons which can be purchased at CILM

 

Supplies needed:

 PSP

(I wrote this in X but any version will work)

Animation Shop

Plugins: Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Nature > Snow Drift (you can download a trial version HERE

 VanDerLee > Snowflakes  HERE

Tube of choice

Font of choice – I used SnowCaps

Template: Template 11 by me HERE

Metal snowflakes by me HERE

KMSilver Pattern HERE

Let’s get started!

 

Unzip your filters to your filters folder.

Unzip and open your font

Download and open your supplies in PSP

 

Activate your template

Delete the copyright information layer

Click on right frame layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Open TWWinterland_Paper 12

Copy and paste as a new layer

Resize by 75% and position behind marching ants

Selections > Invert > Delete

Add drop shadow

0, 0, 80, 5.75

Delete right frame layer

 

Click on left frame layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Copy and paste as a new layer

(I’m using the same paper for my frames, feel free to change out the papers)

Resize by 75% and position behind marching ants

Selections > Invert > Delete

Add drop shadow

0, 0, 80, 5.75

Delete left frame layer

 

Click on center frame layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Copy and paste as a new layer

Resize by 75% and position behind marching ants

Selections > Invert > Delete

Add same drop shadow

Delete center frame layer

 

Click on center background layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Selections > Modify > Expand by 4

Open TWWinterland_Paper 2

Copy and paste as a new layer

Resize by 75%

Selections > Invert > Delete

Add same drop shadow

Delete center background layer

 

Click on right background layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Open TWWinterland_Paper 11

Copy and paste as a new layer

Selections > Invert > Delete

Delete right background layer

 

Click on left background layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Copy and paste paper 11 as a new layer

Selections > Invert > Delete

Delete left background layer

 

Click on large rectangle  layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Open TWWinterland_Paper 8

Copy and paste as a new layer

Selections > Invert > Delete

Add same drop shadow

Delete large rectangle layer

 

Click on grey rectangle  layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Open TWWinterland_Paper 9

Copy and paste as a new layer

Selections > Invert > Delete

Add same drop shadow

Delete grey rectangle layer

 

 

Click on white strip layer

Using your Manual Color Correction tool

Change your source color to white and your target color to #2b344d

Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

Gaussian, 60, Monochrome checked

Hit Ok

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

 

Click on center ric rac layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Click on your foreground color on your materials palette

Click on the Pattern tab and find kvmsilver from the drop down

Angle = 0

Scale = 75

Add a new raster layer

Flood fill with your foreground pattern

 Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Width = 3

Opacity = 100

Color = white

Horizontal Checked

Hit Ok

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

Delete center ric rac layer

 

Click on your snow layer and duplicate it

Hide your copy and click on your original

Selections > Float > Defloat

Effects > Plugins > Alien Skin eye Candy 5 > Nature > Snow Drift with the following settings:

 

Under the settings Tab

 

 

Under the basic tab

 

 

Under the lighting tab

 

 

Click ok and deselect

 

Unhide and click on your copy of snow layer

Resize by 90% and line up the bottom left corners

Effects > Snow Drift

Hit your random Seed once

Click Ok

 

Grab your raster deform tool and drag the center node downward a bit

 

Add the following drop shadow to both snow layers

0, 0, 50, 20

 

Click on your rectangle selection tool and select the left side of the drop shadow

 

 

Hit delete

Click on your other snow layer and hit delete

 

Do the same for the bottom drop shadow on your snow layers

Reposition on your canvas if needed

 

Image > Canvas Size

Change your width to 750

Click on your white background layer and flood fill with white

 

Click on your top layer of your layers palette

 

Copy and paste your tube and position to your liking

Add a drop shadow

 

Open TWWinterland_Snowtree

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 80% and drag between your snow layers

Position to the right of your canvas

Sharpen and add a drop shadow

0, 0, 50, 5.75

 

Duplicate layer and resize by 80%

Position on the left of your canvas

(see mine for placement)

Drag tree layer below both snow layers

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

 

Open TWWinterlandBeads

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Position on the top left side of your  left frame

Add same drop shadow

 Open TWWinterlandBucket

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 55%

Position on bottom right of your  canvas

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

 

Open TWWinterlandButton2

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 20%

Position on top right of your small rectangle

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

 

Click on your light blue rectangle layer

Open TWWinterlandSkates

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 50%

Position on top right of your middle frame

(see mine for placement)

Drag skates layer below lt blue rectangle layer rectangle layer

Selections > Float > Defloat

Click on your light blue rectangle layer

Erase the left skate denoted by the marching ants

Deselect

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

Drag layer above blue rectangle

Using your rectangle selection

 Select the area shown below

 

 

and hit delete

 

Open TWWinterlandBanner

Copy and paste onto your canvas

Resize by 60% and free rotate 10 degrees right

Position on top right of your canvas

(see mine for placement)

Sharpen and add same drop shadow

 

Copy and paste some of your metal snowflakes onto your canvas

Resize, sharpen and position to your liking

Add same drop shadow

 

Add your copyright and any text

 

To create the same text:

Open TWWinterland Paper 12

Click on your background on your materials palette

Click on the pattern tab and find the paper 12

Angle = 0

Scale = 25

Set your foreground to null

 

Activate your text tool and find the SnowCaps font

Size 72

Create as Vector

Type your text and add the following inner bevel

 

 

Add the following drop shadow

0, 0, 80, 5.75

 

Hide your white background and merge visible

 

Crop to layer opaque

Resize by 69%, all layers checked

You cann stop here or proceed to add some falling snow!

 

Selections > Select all

Add a new raster layer

  

Effects > VDL Adrenaline > Snowflakes with the following settings:

 

 

Ctrl D to deselect

Edit > Copy Merged

  

Open Animation Shop

Ctrl V to paste as new animation

 

Back in PSP

Hit Undo twice

Effects > Snowflakes

Change  your Random Seed to 100

Hit Ok

Ctrl D to deselect

 

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

Back in PSP

Hit Undo twice

Effects > Snowflakes

Change  your Random Seed to 200

Hit Ok

Ctrl D to deselect

 

Edit > Copy Merged

 

Back in AS

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Hit your right arrow once to activate new frame

 

Back in PSP

Hit Undo twice

Effects > Snowflakes

Change  your Random Seed to 300

Hit Ok

Ctrl D to deselect

 

Edit > Copy Merged

 

 

Back in AS

Edit > Paste After Current Frame

Crtl + A to select all frames

 

Animation > Animation Properties

Click Opaque and change color to white

Hit OK

  

Animation > Frame Properties > 15

 

Resize if needed

 

View > Animation

File > SAVE AS!!!!
